What are the after school hours?

Hours are 2:30-4:30pm Monday-Thursday during the regular school year, and 1-4:30pm during the summer. See our tuition page for pricing.

Who is eligible to participate in the afterschool program?

All enrolled students are eligible.

Who supervises the children during the after school program?

Alongside our after school director, teachers and paraeducators work together to ensure the children thrive during our after school program.

Can my child join the program in the middle of the school year?

Yes, enrolled students may join at any time during the year. We also allow for day drop-ins. For rates, visit our admissions page.

What measures are in place to ensure the safety of the children?

We are dedicated to ensuring the safety of our students in after school using the following measures: Monthly safety drills practiced at the school. Schoolwide expectations including responsibility, respect, inclusion, and safety. Expectations are reviewed often and positive examples of students are rewarded. Schoolwide positive behavior plans that include self reflection, consequences, communication with parents, and restorative plans ensure students feel safe at school and understand the impact of their decisions. Teacher-to-student ratios are maintained for supervision, preventing potential mishaps or negative interactions.

How can I stay informed about my child’s progress and activities in the afterschool program?

After school program teachers are always available to speak with parents and can be contacted via email. Parents may also utilize the Bloomz app for communication.

What is the year-round schedule?

Class schedule is 9:00am to 2:30pm year round with your choice of 5 days, 3 days, or 2 days in a week.

What is the average student to teacher ratio?

Varies based on class, but on average, teacher to student ratio is 1:2

What ages do you welcome?

We welcome children as young as two years old though students are enrolled on a case-by-case basis.

Is ABA therapy available in the classroom?

While we do not provide ABA therapy, it is allowed on a case-by-case basis. We’ve often found that too many additional adults in the classroom can create an over-stimulating environment for the children.

Do preschoolers have a nap time?

Children in preschool have the opportunity to rest during a daily designated quiet time, but they are not required to sleep.

Does my child have to be potty-trained to be in preschool?

Children do not have to be potty-trained.

My child was born during the pandemic and I am concerned that they are behind in some milestones. Can you help with that?

We understand that many parents see the effects of the pandemic on their child’s development and education. At HTS, each child gets the individual attention they need to not only catch up to academic and social milestones, but exceed them.

What’s the price of evaluation?

Enrolled students receive a discounted rate of $600 for an SLP evaluation, report, and post-evaluation consultation.

What is the price of a regular session?

On-going therapeutic fees are $80/30 minute session.

Do you have a speech therapist/SLP?

Yes. If your child participates in SLP services at HTS, they will work with either the SLP, the SLPA, or both.

What is an individualized service plan (ISP)?

Once your child receives therapy services, they will qualify for an Individualized Service Plan (ISP). This is an annual meeting that includes parents, teacher(s), and therapist(s) to discuss academic and therapeutic progress and classroom accommodations necessary for student success and propose goals for the following ISP year. Progress updates will be provided 2-3 times per year.

How do I start the evaluation process?

First, parents must submit a therapy request form. Then, the SLP will email the parents to discuss the details of the intake/evaluation process. The SLP will work with the student’s parents and teachers to schedule the evaluation. Sessions are during the regular school day. For your child to receive speech-language therapy services at Hope Technology School, our SLP first assesses your child’s overall communication abilities. If therapy is recommended, the SLP will propose goals based on the assessments and the individual needs of your child.

Do you accept insurance?

Costs for therapy are the responsibility of the parent or guardian. While we do not work directly with insurance companies, we do accept payments from insurance companies and public school districts as well. We provide parents with a monthly invoice that can be used for reimbursement purposes. We can include all the necessary information on the invoice – for example: CPT and/or diagnosis codes.

Is therapy included in tuition?

Therapy is billed separately from tuition. Visit our admissions page for tuition pricing.

Do the goals from IEP transfer to ISP?

Usually, the answer is no, but we can discuss this with the parents under special circumstances.

Do the therapists participate in the IEP meetings?

Usually, the answer is no, but we can collaborate with the IEP team and provide information about the student – regarding present levels or performance, assessment information, and the goals that we are addressing. If the SLP needs to attend an IEP meeting, the parents will be charged an additional fee based on the therapeutic rates.

Do you have social groups in your one-on-one session?

No. The SLP meets with students individually. We do offer non-therapeutic social skills groups at set times throughout the school year. These groups are designed to provide students with the opportunity to learn and practice social skills in a small group setting. These groups are led by the SLPA or other HTS staff members.
