Why HTS?
Here’s how we provide an unparalleled education in an inclusive and diverse community, empowering students to become contributors to a better society.
Selecting the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions a parent can make.
At HTS, we recognize the many considerations involved in this choice. Above all, we understand that parents dream of their children emerging from their educational journey as individuals capable of building a quality life characterized by purpose, compassion, and integrity.
We are committed to nurturing every child’s unique potential. We strive to provide an inspiring educational experience that not only cultivates strength of character but also empowers our students to be visionary contributors to a better, more compassionate society.
Academic results through holistic development
We are committed to not only advancing students’ academic excellence but also nurturing their holistic development. At HTS, we integrate social and emotional learning (SEL) into our curriculum, a foundational approach that helps students build essential skills and self-awareness for managing emotions, setting goals, and fostering relationships. This method has proven effective, leading to tangible and impactful results:
- Students participating in social and emotional learning (SEL) programs, such as the ones employed at HTS, showed an 11 percentile-point gain in academic achievement compared to students who did not participate.
- SEL programs facilitate prosocial, positive behavior in the classroom and reduce disruptive behavior.
-
Students who participated in SEL programs in elementary school showed improved social-emotional skills, attitudes, and academic performance up to 18 years later.
At HTS, we offer academic opportunities within a diverse environment that enhance both social and emotional growth. This approach prepares students for success in higher education and career development, whether at leading universities or other institutions. It has also inspired many of our graduates to contribute to society through community service, reflecting our focus on comprehensive development.
Individualized, small-sized classroom experience
Our school’s small class sizes unlock remarkable opportunities for focused attention and deeper connections, making every student’s experience truly special. With a teacher/student ratio ranging from 1:8 to as low as 1:4, and through the use of proven approaches such as universal design for learning (UDL) and project-based learning (PBL), our classrooms meet each student’s unique needs and styles.
In small classes, students benefit from more individualized attention and greater classroom engagement, both of which contribute to more effective and enjoyable learning, leading to improved academic performance. Students have more opportunities to ask questions, participate in discussions, and receive quick feedback, which boosts engagement and learning. Thanks to these advantages, students in smaller classes in early grades are more likely to be successful in their educational and life journey.
In addition to strong academics, smaller classes help build strong friendships that extend beyond the classroom, fostering a tight-knit, supportive community.
An inclusive and diverse education
Recent studies, including a 2021 study from the National Library of Medicine, show that students without special needs benefit from participating in interactive learning activities with peers with special needs in different ways:
- They learn to respect others, accept differences, and recognize different abilities, which helps them make new friends.
- They learn to support others, develop patience, and find joy in helping others succeed.
- They benefit from cognitive effort required to explain their ideas and from learning from their peers with special needs.
Our school was built on the simple but powerful idea that we all grow more when we learn together, not apart.
Empowering education through strong parent-teacher collaboration
A school with a strong parent community cultivates a supportive and collaborative environment, significantly boosting student achievement and well-being.
At HTS, we encourage parents and teachers to establish collaborative relationships, working together to contribute to each student’s development. We also have an active parent committee that helps to plan school events and fundraisers.
Balancing innovation and well-being in educational technology
While a majority of parents (74%) believe that educational technology has a positive impact on their child’s learning, they also have significant concerns about its overuse, impact on mental health, and issues related to privacy and cybersecurity.
At HTS, we believe that, when harnessed effectively, technology can help us surpass our human limits. We take pride in the creative and innovative ways our teachers, therapists, and paraeducators use both high and low-tech tools to offer students of all abilities opportunities for growth. As generations Z and Alpha become naturally adept with technology, our goal is to foster a healthy and empowering relationship with their devices while steering them away from the potential pitfalls of the digital world.
Expanding experiences through cultural exchange
In our increasingly interconnected world, the importance of cultural exchange in education cannot be emphasized enough. Through our partnerships with educators in countries like the Netherlands and South Korea, HTS students benefit from regular visits by delegations of teachers and students who share insights about their cultures. These interactions offer unique perspectives, broadening our students’ awareness and understanding of the world around them.
Cultivating empathy and connection through inclusive education
Over two decades of designing and building our inclusive culture have created an empathetic learning environment where students develop the social and emotional skills needed to form healthy and safe relationships.
As a result, we teach our students to understand their own value and the value of others, fostering a culture that supports the prevention of loneliness, bullying, and other safety concerns.
On-site specialized services
Specialized services provide great value to our students. Our specialized services team provides tailored support, including speech therapy and early language help through speech-language pathology services (SLPS), and creates individualized service plans (ISPs) and individualized learning plans (ILPs) for therapy goals and classroom adjustments.
Our on-site occupational therapist trains teachers in specific methods that improve students’ performance of tasks and activities that are important for their school functioning.

In our after-school program, children explore their passions, receive individualized homework support, and develop essential social skills in a nurturing environment.
These enriching opportunities are carefully crafted to spark curiosity, foster growth, and prepare students to lead with confidence and compassion. Choosing HTS means giving your child a foundation for a future where they are not only prepared to succeed but also to make a positive impact on the world.
