High School
Our innovative high school goes beyond academic standards, developing compassionate leaders and lifelong learners.
An innovative education for an advancing world
Gen Z has been nicknamed the “Anxious Generation.” In a fast-paced, technologically advancing world, the societal challenges and pressures high schoolers normally face have been exacerbated by social media and a global presence. To adapt to a changing world, we’ve created for these students an innovative education experience.
We’ve proudly watched our students discover their passions, pursue their academic goals, and develop close friendships that they carry with them long after they graduate from HTS.
HTS alumni have gone on to attend prestigious universities such as the University of San Francisco, Santa Clara University, San Jose State University, and San Francisco State University. Many have turned their HTS education into careers in education, technology, and community service.
In addition to their academic success, HTS graduates are compassionate, creative, and resilient. We believe that these qualities lead to their success in pursuing higher education, careers, starting inclusive programs, and all other endeavors.
Meet the team
What has made me happiest about my daughter’s time in the HTS high school program is that she feels a sense of belonging. She is always learning and exposed to curricula that would not be possible in another school, and she loves learning.”
Real-life experience to build 21st-century skills
Our high school offers a dynamic, project-based learning experience that challenges students beyond academics. Our team of passionate teachers engage students by incorporating their interests into personalized projects, ensuring lasting learning beyond the classroom.
These projects instill in our students essential 21st-century skills like technology literacy, problem-solving, leadership, and teamwork. Students become “people” people, learning to communicate and collaborate effectively with others, especially those different from themselves. This prepares them well for college, careers, and life as lifelong learners and active participants in society.
A classroom designed for the individual student
In our classrooms, we seamlessly integrate accommodations to ensure a supportive environment for our students. With small class sizes, sensory breaks, visual schedules, and more, we make education accessible to all diverse learners.
Collaborating closely with parents and staff, we identify what works best for each student and make necessary adjustments for their success. These small adjustments make a world of difference for students as we find that when their needs are met, they have the freedom to learn.

Our projects over the years
Our teachers use project-based learning to help students apply Common Core standards through practical, real-world projects. Here are some examples of their innovative work:
My Dream Car
HTS chemistry students applied their knowledge of stoichiometry and environmental science to determine the impact of their dream cars on the environment.
Community Change Makers
In civics class, students identified a local social justice issue, interviewed a community member, researched the targeted change, and proposed new legislation and initiatives.
Mockumentary: A Day at HTS
Broadcasting students used their writing and media skills to create a mockumentary showcasing a day in the life at HTS.
Schoolwide Recycling Competition
After learning about environmental sustainability, students conducted a schoolwide recycling competition, tracking the data and writing a research paper on the topic.
Flavors of the World
Students explore Hispanic culture by researching and sharing foods enjoyed and celebrated in Spanish-speaking countries.
Sustainable Town Design
Geometry students used design and 3D shapes to create a sustainable town, building tiny home models with scale factors, surface area, volume, and eco-friendly materials.
