At HTS, we believe that a school with a strong parent community significantly boosts student achievement and well-being. We have seen firsthand that a supportive and collaborative environment is essential to the success of our students, and we are grateful for the community of parents and families who have dedicated their time and resources to this mission.

This philosophy is one of the reasons we have been able to provide an excellent inclusive education to thousands of students for more than twenty years.

Parental involvement helps students

When parents are actively involved in their children’s education, a powerful synergy emerges. Parental involvement not only helps student academic outcomes, but aids in their social emotional development. Students feel more supported and motivated, knowing that their parents are engaged in their academic journey. At HTS, we have seen that parental involvement also fosters a sense of community and belonging, which is crucial for students’ emotional and social development.

Parental involvement enhances schools

A strong parent community doesn’t just benefit students; it also enhances the overall school environment. Parents bring diverse skills, perspectives, and resources that can enrich school programs and initiatives. Whether it’s volunteering for events, participating in school committees, or simply being present at school functions, every bit of involvement makes a difference.

Ways to get involved

Getting involved in your child’s education can be simple! Here are a few ways to get started.

  1. Stay in contact with HTS staff and teachers, maintaining strong communication.
  2. Work with your child at home on homework or reinforcing social skills that are taught in the classroom. Our teachers send home regular newsletters that share the topics they are covering so that you can collaborate with them.
  3. Volunteer at school events. Our parent volunteer committee has been crucial to the success of our various events such as Fall Fest, winter concerts, and Bike to Bay.

One opportunity to experience the strength of our parent community is at our upcoming HTS Fall Fest. This event is a celebration of our school spirit and a chance for parents, students, and staff to come together and enjoy a day of fun and camaraderie. We encourage all parents to get involved, whether by volunteering, donating, or simply attending the event. Children and staff are encouraged to dress up in their favorite costumes to add to the fun, festive atmosphere.

We are incredibly grateful for the support of parents who contribute to our school community. Together, we can create an environment where every student thrives. Let’s continue to build a strong, supportive community that fosters success and well-being for all!
