“Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.” – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
At Hope Technology School students develop more than academic intelligence, they build character. Qualities such as confidence, compassion and citizenship strengthen and equip HTS students academically and socially to be leaders in their communities. HTS alumni have excelled at top Bay Area Universities and are making a profound difference among their peers as student government leaders, student athletes, and mentors.
Creating an inclusive environment in which every student shares equally in the classroom community helps students develop confidence. Students are urged to look for and encourage the strengths and talents in each other. They practice compassion by working together and valuing individuals with many different abilities. Our students develop empathy and learn to help one another succeed. These practices together produce a community in which our students are accepted, involved and thriving. According to the Heroic Imagination Project, “Heroism can be seen as compassion in action”. By helping our students develop strength of character, at HTS we’re creating everyday heroes.
