CNN Student News: A Resource of Clean, Informative, and Entertaining News for Students
It’s funny how preferences change with age. There was a time I didn’t like watching the news. Now as a teacher, I am always looking for ways to inform my students of what is going on in the world, whether it’s assigning current events to discover the latest science and technological breakthroughs or starting off the day playing hangman with a news headline. I attempted to show my students CNN or FOX news in the morning on cable TV only to discover how frequently I needed to change the channel to shield them from some scandalous news or commercial.
We were delighted to find CNN Student News, a clean, safe and informative ten-minute news segment produced daily for students. In addition to major global headlines, it incorporates the latest technological developments, offers trivia questions, and showcases eclectic sports activities. It is an easy and entertaining way to present the news to students, keeping them up to date on what’s going on in the world. It has become a daily ritual for our class to begin our day and our students eagerly look forward to it every morning! Check it out here.
